We sent recurring contributor Crystal Lubrikunt and newbie to the A.D. family Eric Magnussen to cover this years Dragcon. They photographed some fan favorites and had a chit chat too.

Peppermint! RuPaul’s DragCon 2017 how are we feeling girl?!

Oh my gosh! It is absolutely and overload of every emotion I have ever felt!

Season 9 is well underway and on VH1, how have you been since the show has aired?

I feel super-loved, I feel so excited, I’ve never been on television before, it’s changed my life in one of the best ways ever.

You are now an icon for the trans community, how do you feel taking on this role?

I feel really excited that there is someone like myself, anyone like myself that can be in the public eye, that is different than it has been before. I know that there are so many people like me that who would’ve wanted to do exactly what I’m doing so if i can be that role model, that’s great.

Now it’s 2017, a very politically charged year for us all so what message can you send out for the younger generation, the trans community that are growing up within this dark era that may encourage them to continue on staying true to themselves and to stay positive?

You know it is definitely discouraging when it feels like the lawmakers of your country are not on your side, or anyone within your community are not on your side, many marginalized people know what that feels like. I think the most important thing is that there has definitely been moments in time before this that it has been hard, if not harder than it is now; in the states it was illegal for two people of the same sex to even dance together in a bar or a club without being arrested and obviously it’s not like that now. So I think we’ve made it through much harder times, we’ve flourished through so much worse so I know that we will get through this.

Trinity Taylor, how are you feeling right now at RuPaul’s DragCon 2017?

This is overwhelming, but I love it! I love meeting fans! This has been a great experience, this is my first time here!

So RuPaul’s Drag Race season 9 is on VH1, can you tell us about how life has been since the show has aired?

You know it’s not anything you can prepare yourself for, I’ve traveled the world already but it’s just a completely different experience, it’s amazing how much the show impacts people’s lives, how much people are invested in it, it’s crazy! I can’t even imagine it, it makes me emotional to think about it, if I could cry I would!

Do you have a message to the future generations of the LGBTQ+ community that are enduring the darker times we’re experience right now with the world?

You know we have to just get through this first 4 years, and every vote counts and never think you’re vote doesn’t count as it’s up to us to change what happens with our government and if you don’t make your voice heard then nothing is going to change. You have to make your voice count so stay strong, be ready and prepare yourself for when the next election comes.

And on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the tightest, how tight is your tuck right now?

Oh it’s like a 14!

Alexis Michelle! How are you feeling girl?!

I’m AMAZING! I’m having the time of my life!

Now Season 9 of RuPaul’s Drag Race is hitting our screens harder than any season has before, how excited are you?

I’m SO excited. I could’ve done without the HD, but I’m so excited. Life is amazing, it’s new and I’m learning, it’s an adjustment but I have been waiting for this.

Your time on the show so far has shown off so many different sides to Alexis Michelle; your musicality, your personality and even your diva-ish side which could meet the likes of Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler.

Absolutely! And I love that you put me within a group with those gals that's great! But there are some touchy people out there that comment about it.

I like to call them ‘the wigless & the gigless’

The wigless and the gi... Thats fantastic! I like it!

As a musical queen I must ask; what is the dream role for Alexis on Broadway but also, what is the dream role for Mr. Michelle too?

Okay, in drag is Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Todd, and out of drag is Billy Biggalow in Carousel!

Hello AJA how are you doing?

I’m good sis, what’s T girl?

Whats the T girl? How is your RuPaul’s DragCon 2017 coming along?

It’s really fun, I’m having so much fun meeting all the fans and supporters. It’s really great to see which people actually love & embrace drag and us little old queens!

You’ve just released the single ‘C.L.A.T’ with Alexis Michelle, Sasha Velour and Peppermint. And you’ve also released your very own single ‘Level Your Pussy Up’, could you tell us more about that?

Yes! ‘Level Your Pussy Up’ I wrote before I was on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Ultimately it was a project where I could let all my aggression out, aggression that built up from not knowingif I was going to get on the show. Then after I got on the show my New York sisters and myself thought it would be amazing to work on a little track which is called ‘C.L.A.T’ which stands for ‘club, legend, art, theatre’ representing four different types of drag in New York.

On top of those releases, one of the most outstanding moment of season 9 thus far; your hysterical Linda Evangelista outburst towards Valentina! It's now been completely transformed into a club track!

Could we be expecting an album or perhaps a couple more singles from you?

I won’t spill too much but I’m working on some stuff, I’m in the process of writing but I’mtraveling a lot so it’s hard to settle down and record, but as soon as I have everything written up and in fine print... sis we will hear some good ghetto shit!

Ross Matthews! How are we feeling at RuPaul’s DragCon 2017?

I’m feeling 100+! This is like if my mind made something up in fantasy land and it’s all come true.

Looking out over the convention balcony, it’s something else…

It’s extraordinary! I mean, I remember when I first heard about the first DragCon and I thought to myself “Will people show up?” “Is there enough of us to fill the convention center?” And of course I should’ve known, and it’s just grown, and grown, and grown, and when you walk around there are just so many people who are just thrilled to be there. Who’ve been looking forward to this all year long, and who just want to celebrate drag, dress-up, and be part of the most iconic show on television.

Speaking of television you’ve been apart of the RuPaul’s Drag Race family now for a few years, does it feel like there’s been a change in the show now that it has moved to VH1?

Well when we shot the latest season we weren’t aware that we were moving to VH1 so hopefully nothing has changed , we didn’t shoot this with any thought other than lets just give the fans a great season.

That’s a great intention to lead the show with.

Oh my gosh totally, and when I say ‘the fans’ I mean myself; I was a fan of the show before i was ever on the show and so I represent the fans on that judging panel, and so I look at the producers and I look to the queens like “Entertain me!”

Being a prominent representative of LGBTQ+ community, what is your message that you would like to give to everyone at RuPaul’s DragCon, to everyone that watches RuPaul’s Drag Race, to go forth with in 2017?

There is a couple things; I believe that culture has shifted and there has never been a better time to be LGBTQ+ I also think everything that we cherish is at risk so we can be proud, and we can enjoy how far we have come? But now is the time to fight harder than ever, because it could be taken away.

BibleGirl how has your RuPaul’s DragCon 2017 been thus far?

It has been nothing short of amazing and wonderful. How’s yours?

It’s been alright girl! Now you’ve just released your video game app Bible Girl’s Big Apple, can you tell us how that came about?

So my boyfriend Chris & I are obsessed with the Kardashians and I like to parallel how I build my career to theirs and the drag market was missing something that was an inclusive game that represented our world, our industry, our culture and that was fun! So we came up with the concept one night over a bag of Sour Patch Kids and decaf coffee, and here we are!

What is your message to the younger LGBTQ+ generation that are growing up within this difficult time?

We will still be able to thrive like we have done increasingly over the past couple of years, it always feels like it may be dark but there will forever be a light at the end of the tunnel.

What Britney Spears song represents your mood right now?

Get Naked because I’m ready to quit drag bitch!

Derrick Barry! How is your RuPaul’s DragCon 2017 coming along?

Oh my gosh I mean, I love being here at DragCon it is so fun to see so many familiar faces, meeting new fans and I just think it’s a brilliant way to connect with people.

You’ve been traveling all over the world lately, how has the past 12 months been for Derrick Barry? I know we’re currently on season 9 of RuPaul’s Drag Race but it’s still less than a year ago that Season 8 wrapped up so how has it been?

I know! I mean it’s been incredible I’ve been traveling the world since I was on America’s Got Talent back in 2008 so this squared it, it’s been busier, faster and more intense but I love it all, I love being on the road.

As an avid Britney Spears fan, when will we be finally seeing you with the Princess of Pop on her Vegas stage together?

Gosh! I hope so! Please Britney make it happen! I would love to!

Hey Jiggly how are you doing?

Oh I love DragCon, DragCon 2017 has been so much fun!

How have the last 12 months been for Jiggly?

The last 12 months have been eye-opening; I’ve been living my truth, letting the world know that I am trans has made life a lot easier. A weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. The support that people have for me because of it is something that I never saw coming and I’m appreciative of it all, it’s been such a crazy roller coaster in this world of Drag Race. I’m just appreciating everything that has come from it, mainly the positive support from the fans.

Absolutely, and in the last handful of months we’ve seen that 2017 may be remembered as the most politically-charged year in a quite a long time so as a representative of the trans community do you have a message you’d like to put out there for the younger generations within the trans community?

Be educated on laws and the people that are being placed in power, especially the ‘Cheeto’. These laws, like the bathroom laws alone may seem so simple but it is a human right where we should be able to go to the bathroom where we choose or where we see fit, not because of our genitalia. Be educated, there’s more to life than Instagram.

We wish you the best of luck and all the love my darling.

Thank you so much.

Thorgy Thor! RuPaul’s DragCon 2017... how are we feeling?

I am feeling so IN-CREDIBLE!

On brand! How has the past 12 months been for Thorgy Thor? It's only been eleven months since your season wrapped.

I know! It’s funny too because I actually came in this year thinking “alright all the season 9 girls are going to be here, I’m like an old hat” You know? And my line has been out the door! There are fans from Copenhagen here?! I’ve signed a couple violins, it’s been great and this past year has been really good, non-stop traveling which I always wanted to do and I am doing it now! But I’ve set myself up now to transition and shed one piece of drag queen skin and go on to do more violin with Thorgy, more string work so I’m glad I’ve set myself up for that, I’m very excited!

So we can expect a ‘Thorchestra’ sometime soon?

Not too soon, it really takes a long time; hiring musicians.

It’s not as quick as dropping an EDM single.

GAAAHH!! Love that so much but yes! Exactly, I have to find the players, I want to tour and you have to find the money because it’s very expensive. If anybody is reading this and they have lots of money that they’re sleeping on and they wish to support me please just email me at thorgy@gmail.com! There it is!

Lets have a Shot With Soju! How has your RuPaul’s DragCon 2017 been my darling?

I’m really overwhelmed because it’s my first time here, and being recognized on the convention floor is crazy! Seeing all the queens together is crazy, it’s a lot but I love it!

How does it feel to see some of your Chicago family get on RuPaul’s Drag Race and seem them succeed?

It’s wonderful because every time a Chicago girl has gone on they bring it, they kill it and I think it’s because Chicago has such a good unit. We inspire each other and we grow together.

You’ve got some queens within that unit that, even though RuPaul’s Drag Race has set up major platforms for some of your sisters, there are queens like yourself that are making a name for themselves outside of the show, ultimately you created your own platform, how does that feel?

No totally! I think it’s because Chicago is so landlocked, everyone thinks of L.A or New York as the entertainment areas, so it’s been down to us to get ourselves out there so we focus on social media, YouTube, getting our art out there and that has built a fan base.

One last thing, whilst I keep mentioning it, will you be auditioning for Season 10?

Ummmmmmmmmmmm! Maybe!

First of all Adore, how the heck are you?

I’m well babe how are fuck have you been?

We’ve been chill, how has your RuPaul’s DragCon been so far?

It’s been really, really lovely! The vibes have been very positive and chill.

You’ve had a break since your last record I believe.

Yeah I actually took a 4 and a half month off from working, to grow a bush and just to figure out my life. I put my entire life on hold to write this new record, I stopped having sex and stuff, I stopped eating so much and I started drinking heavily, living that grungy life and it’s been really beautiful so I hope it comes off on the record like that.

With this upcoming record, what is the direction you’ll be taking us in because you’ve given us; bubblegum pop, and rock’n’roll sides to you on previous records, whats next?

We’re definitely doing an alternative rock homage to the Nirvanas, the Soundgardens, and the Courtney Loves of the world, this generation is kind of lost the whole angst side of life. Even though we have those nostalgic figures like Lana Del Rey we need to have some type of anger from the children to question society right now especially with whats going on politically.

You think America needs a Sex Pistols movement?

I do! I think the world does!

I’m sensing an Adore-fuck-the-establishment type of record coming our way then!

It’s definitely that! I mean I’m writing songs that kids need to think about, especially if they grew up like me. Genderqueers, trying to figure out things like why do I have an Adam’s apple when I don’t want it? Shit like that! Meow!

Very important question; why isn’t your gal pal Chris Crocker here with you?

Girl he has pneumonia! He’s super, fucking awesome man!

Well you’re enough awesome for us today Adore, we love you girl!
